New York-based A Place to Bury Strangers are composed of Oliver Ackermann (guitar/vocals), Jono MOFO (bass) and Jay Space (drums). The trio play an atmospheric blend of shoegaze and psychedelic rock, and are especially known for loud live performances at their very own Brooklyn artist community, venue and effects pedal factory, Death by Audio.

Sunday is top-lined by the fuzzed out and fried-to-a-crisp clamor of A Place To Bury Strangers, psych-rock revival O.G.s The Warlocks, and New York’s Raveonettes-esque noir-poppers The Vandelles. Once again the entire festival will be set to Fillmore-era liquid light projections, psychedelic art from The Angels’ Christian Bland (and a few bongwater-soaked, vintage pieces rescued from the Vulcan Gas Company), and backed by “classic trip sequences” provided by I Luv Video and Austin Underground Film—hopefully including something from Peter Fonda’s embarrassingly bad “let’s get Jack Nicholson high and film it” opus The Trip.

Hotly tipped Brooklyn group A Place To Bury Strangers are set to hit the UK with some fresh tour dates and a new single.

Below, check out “My Weakness”, the third video from A Place to Bury Strangers’ self-titled debut. Directed by Dylan Mulick and heavy with Death Proof-esque undertones, parts of the video were apparently filmed in one of the go-to locations for the original Star Trek series, Vasquez Rocks. Ominous.

Shoegaze indie-rockers, A Place To Bury Strangers, have been awfully busy of late, recording the follow-up to their 2007 self-titled debut, preparing for their first performance at Coachella, and whipping up a music video for the song, “My Weakness,” the third clip from the debut.
Sections of the video were shot in California’s Vasquez Rocks—the same location where original Star Trek episodes were often filmed. The similarities between the band and the sci-fi series pretty much end there though. Well, their ears are a little pointy…

Last night A Place To Bury Strangers was absolute destruction, or, as their Myspace reads, “Total Sonic Annihilation.” They blasted through a bunch of songs, including a sort of sped up version of “The Falling Sun” and of course my favorite song by them, “Don’t Think Lover,” which was exceedingly kickass and deafening.

Sneaking out under the radar, it was nonetheless an inspiring mixture of old and new, taking the psychedelic template and stretching it until it breaks. After touring with MGMT the group became a must see attraction, using their own, hand-built guitar pedals to produce some extreme noises.

The New York based-band have announced dates for a short tour of the UK and Ireland. They will be performing a six date tour starting in Dublin on March 31. Their album was remastered and released in the UK last time that they toured the UK and Ireland. Before the tour of the UK and Ireland they will be playing at a couple of Universities in the US and at Coachella afterwards. You can see the tour dates below.

The third video from A Place to Bury Strangers’ self-titled debut. “My Weakness” features shots of the band playing live with warm tones of the California desert splicing in between. The video looks like it was pulled straight out of the 1990s alternative rock vault. But then again, this trio wears its influences on their sleeves, pants and shoes.
